Portraiture

Sam D’Ambruoso has been professionally painting portraits and landscapes since 1972.  He has studied portraiture at the Paier School of Art, Hamden, CT under Joseph Funaro and at Lyme Academy of Art under Dan Gheno as well as well-noted portraitist, Laurel Stern Boecke at the Katona Art Center, New York and Peter Cox at the Arts Students League, New tork City

His portraits are available in oils, pastels or graphite drawings and range from small oil sketches to full sized corporate portraits.  All commissioned portraits are developed from photos, initial graphite drawings, and painting from life if and when available.  The portrait process involves beginning graphite drawings, a selection of image and style of the portrait, and ends with the representational portrait painting, an heirloom for the collector.
